the lighthouse hat
When I was little girl, my father would often take me toMcDonalds for lunch. My mother wasn’t a fan of fast food, so when it was just the two of us he could indulge in a (guilt-free) Big Mac! I always got a Happy Meal, with animal crackers for ‘dessert’. After lunch, Dad would take me downtown to the lighthouse, and hold my tiny hand while we walked out onto the pier, so I could gleefully feed my animal crackers to the ducks! I still live near my hometown and, to this day, the lighthouse holds some of my sweetest memories.
The Lighthouse Hat is soft, warm, and beautiful in its simplicity, with a touch of luxury (a nod to my adult self). This delightfully fast & fuzzy hat is a joy to knit, and to wear. I hope it brings you abundant warmth and pleasure :)
THE KNITTY GRITTY
7.75” (19.5 cm) length x 17” (43 cm) circumference un-stretched; to fit approx. 22" (56 cm) head circumference / average adult female.
YARN(S)
(A) Katia Concept Cotton Merino (70% Cotton, 30% Merino Wool; 115 yards 105 meters / 50 grams): 1 skein in shade #100 (ivory).
(B) Katia Concept Silk Mohair (70% Mohair, 30% Silk; 219 yards 200 meters/ 25 grams): 1/2 skein in shade #200 (ivory).
Debbie Bliss “Angel” / Sugarbush Yarns “Drizzle” would both be suitable substitutions for yarn (B), if necessary.
NEEDLES (adjust if necessary to obtain correct gauge)
One 16” (40 cm) circular needle size US 9 (5.5 mm).
One set of four double-pointed needles size US 9 (5.5 mm).
