After a surprisingly intensive application and screening process, there is finally a light at the end of the tunnel: I am (almost) a volunteer at OTMH, in the role of Knitting Instructor for the Adult Mental Health Day Program. Hooray!
The official offer was delivered to my inbox on Thursday, June 22nd, and just one week later I was attending a comprehensive volunteer orientation. Now, all that's left to do is wait for the lab tests to come back. If I don't have T.B. (God, I hope not!), I'll be cleared for service and can start sharing the love of knitting--and its therapeutic benefits--with a brand new audience. Oh, the anticipation! I'm nervous, excited, and very, very honoured.

It's a good thing we have super-boxes, because if the mail man had brought this directly to my door, I'd have kissed him, and things would have gotten weird. But, seriously, is there anything better than a pink package of Air Mail, and a pretty gauze bag brimming with pure, undyed, Baby Alpaca? Yes, that was rhetorical. A new pattern is coming--one never seen in my Raverly shop. And, by Fall, the finished hats will be available to purchase. Ok, I have to go wind these babies...I can't believe I waited this long!
Got a new camera. Don't know how to use it. Super-frustrated. Super-intimidated. For heavens' sake, I'm a knitter, not a photographer. BUT...I'm tired of not being able to capture the beautiful details of the finished hand-knits I put so much time, effort, and love, into creating, so today I broke out the new camera and started to capture images for the launch of coldcomfortknits.com. I still have a lot to learn, but the only way to learn is dive right in and get started. So, here goes.... Hmm…not baaaaad?

I'm Alexis, the knitter/designer behind cold comfort knits. My favourite animal is a sheep (obvi). My primary knitting fuel is coffee. And my inner child is actually an inner senior-citizen.
